In Zen Buddhism, Shoshin refers to having a "beginner's mind." It is the practice of approaching tasks, relationships, and life events with an attitude of openness and eagerness, free from preconceptions.
As the Zen master Shunryu Suzuki wrote: "In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's mind there are few."
Approaching life with a beginner's mind reduces pressure, stimulates creativity, and brings a sense of ease to daily work. Read more about Zen and mindfulness books in our [affiliate library](/books).
